[Embryo] | theterm used to describe a developing human from conception to 8 weeks of development

[Egg] | the female reproductive cell, also called the ovum. the egg carries 23 chromosomes, 22 autosomes and an x chromosome. the egg fuses with the sperm at conception to produce an embryo.

[Duplication] | when partof chromosome is present in two or more copies.

[Down syndrome] | trisomy 21

[DNA] | deoxyribonucleicacid; the basic material of heredity. dna is a large molecule that carries the genetic information that cells need to replicate and to produce proteins. it is made up of chemicals called nucleotide bases, linked together in a spiral-shaped chain called a double helix.
